Schäuble compares Putin to Hitler

Many European officials thought about it, but very few dare to say it publicly. German finance minister Wolfgang Schäuble set himself among the latter, as he compared Russian president Vladimir Putin's policy towards Crimea to Hitler's annexion of the Sudetenland in 1938. The Nazi leader annexed this Czechoslovakian region in a move intended to "protect" its German-speaking population.
Speaking to a crowd of some fifty Berlin students on 31 March, Schäuble said that "this kind of methods have been used before by Hitler in the Sudetenland", reports Der Spiegel Online.
